Work Travel & Home Updates
Alright, it’s been awhile since we’ve caught up on life so let’s chat, shall we? Grab some coffee.
I spent most of this week in Las Vegas. I have to be honest, I’m not really a “Vegas” person. Everything is loud, I don’t like casinos, and thanks to the time zone change, I want to go to bed at 7pm. (I swear I’m only 27. I know I sound like a grandma.) But I put all of that aside and actually had a pretty great time!
Don’t let this photo fool you. That green juice was one of the few healthy things I managed to snag while I was there. Most of our dinners were at steakhouses where the only vegetarian options were starches. (Helllllllo potatoes.) Oh well. Room service did bring me some pretty delicious tomato soup.
Plus food is twice as delicious when you eat it on your hotel bed. (It’s also 8 million times more expensive. More or less.)
I didn’t get to use the gym while I was there (apparently the gym was extra and I had no idea if I could expense it…) so I did a few workouts in my hotel room. Thank goodness for workouts that don’t require hand weights! I did this tone it up workout and it seemed to be pretty effective consider how sore I was the next day. Still, I’m ready to get back into my regular routine at the gym!
A few of you asked to see some pictures of our current house projects so here are a few!
We found a little bench at a thrift store last weekend and it was in pretty rough shape but it just needed a little love from a palm sander & some spray paint.
We have it painted but it’s not quite assembled just yet. Honestly, I’m not in love with the color (WHY is picking out a paint color so hard?!) so we might give it another coat of something else. Stay tuned on that one.
We were hunting for a light fixture for our dining room and we actually found one that we both really liked!
You can’t tell in the photo but we snagged some of these antique bulbs at Lowes and I love the effect!
Although we were only looking for lighting, items tend to multiply just like house projects… and we found ourselves bringing home four of these bar stools.
The seat is build like an old tractor seat. They’re kind of heavy but I love them! We actually saw them at the store, went somewhere else, and then came back and bought them because we couldn’t stop thinking about them. They’re also surprisingly comfortable.
Our to do list is still pretty long but Alex surprised me by fixing the bedroom and closet door while I was gone! Neither of them would shut all the way, which wasn’t a huge deal but obviously kind of annoying. It’s one more thing we can cross off the list!
Loved your tips. But enjoyed:βWe will pack all of the kids in these bags andβ. This one might not be the best for the kids! LOL. Keep up the good work!swim with dolphins kona
I LOOOOOVE shopping for home decor at Home Goods, Ethan Allen and Green Front. We try to stick with Made in America or antiques but for new things sometimes we have to go out of the US for what makes us happy… those tractor bar seats are great. I wonder if they’re more comfortable because of the tailbone support?
You’re so pretty! I love the first photo of you π
Also, I love the new house updates. I absolutely love West Elm or antique shops; however, both tend to be out of my price range. We tend to acquire pieces over time (though I wish I could fully decorate/furnish my house right now!)
Your house is coming along dear!! And I’m with you on vegas… we were in our rooms, sipping our own wine, watching movies by 10PM every night. #livingitup π
