As a vegetarian, I’m constantly getting the question “Where do you get your protein?” and while I might inwardly roll my eyes a little, I jump at the chance to help people understand that plants have protein, too! I don’t need to eat meat or protein bars or protein powder to build my muscles and feed my body. I can get all my protein needs through plants!
So today’s recipe is packed with 100% plant based protein and you don’t need any protein powder!
This tropical protein smoothie bowl recipe has 16g of protein with just the ingredients in the smoothie + toppings. This 100% plant based protein.
Tropical Protein Smoothie Bowl
1/4 cup ice cubes
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup frozen mango
3/4 cup Silk Protein Nut Milk
1 tbsp hemp hearts (shelled hemp seeds)
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp almond slices
Blend the ice, pineapple, mango, and milk together until fully blended.
Pour into a bowl and top with hemp, chia, and almond. Enjoy!
There are actually plenty of toppings you could add here, but hemp, chia, and almond are a great blend for texture as well as protein and healthy fats! I also love stirring in some blueberries or extra sliced strawberries on top.
If you haven’t tried Silk’s new nut milks, you should check them out! They’re loaded with 100% plant based protein, without any soy. They’re a combination of nuts and pea protein for a creamy, delicious, healthy blend!
I’ve been loving them in all my smoothie bowl creations and I love that they have the benefit of extra protein!
