Flat Belly Foods

It’s about time I gave you an update on the Good Belly challenge! I took the “Good Belly 12 Day Challenge” and saw some interesting results.

1. I do think it helped my digestion/bloating. Being someone that eats a ton of raw vegetables, this can occasionally be an “issue” but I didn’t have any problems while I was taking the Good Belly shots.

2. I spent a lot of time around Alex, who was sick, and I managed to notΒ catch what he had. Ironically, about a week after the 12 day challenge was over, I ended up getting a cold of my own. Β (Although I bought more Good Belly when I was buying cold medicine and I do think it helped get me over it.)

Now I’m not saying that these shots will give you flat abs. And I’m not saying they’ll keep you from getting sick. But they could certainly help!

Plus, the juice tastes pretty awesome. I think I liked the Blueberry Acai flavor best, but the Mango flavor was also good. I think the only downside for me was that I generally try to stay away from fruit juices, because they have a lot of sugar in them. However, if you’re used to a glass of orange juice in the morning, I’d consider swapping a glass of Good Belly and see how you feel.

Now what about some other flat belly foods?

I definitely felt a little “flatter” when I was doing the Tone It Up 7 Day Slim Down, and I think that was because I followed their rules pretty closely… including:

  1. Minimal processed foods (even the protein bars I was eating we’re minimally processed)
  2. No sodas, not even diet ones (and I love my diet coke…)
  3. Less salt. Salt was almost entirely cut out of the plan, which helped.

Now I’m not saying you have to do those things, but they can certainly help with bloating! I also love a glass of water with apple cider vinegar in the morning, and I’m told that can help as well. Just fill up an 8oz glass of water, and add about 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar. It tastes really bitter the first few times you drink it, but after awhile, you get used to it. Now I crave it!

What are some of your flat belly foods?

  1. I’ve never heard of ‘Good Belly!” I can also run into issues with my digestive track since I eat such a huge amount of veggies. I will have to look into this!

  2. This may sound silly but I think super dark chocolate is a flat belly food and here’s why…it packs strong chocolate flavor in every bite and it keeps you from craving other, more sugary dessert. That’s what I tell myself anyway! πŸ™‚

  3. I’ve recently tried cutting back on the volume of veggies I was eating to help with bloating problems and so far so good πŸ™‚

  4. I have always wondered about the apple cider vinegar trick. there is a really good smoothie from ellwoods called the Duane Almond with some apple cider vine in it, they said it helps flush toxins too…perhaps I will start incorporating it into my diet- 7 Day Slim Down here we come!

  5. I found cutting out sodas, really kept me from feeling bloating. This is all really interesting! I can honestly say I don’t eat a lot of veggies so that isn’t a problem for me…ha ha…

  6. Making sure that I have lots of lean protein in my diet seems to help me most. I also start every day with an ACV drink. It’s not the best tasting stuff, but after awhile, you get used to it. Dare I say I even crave it now!?!

  7. For me drinking plenty of water and focusing more on fresh produce, whole grains and avoiding processed food helps most. I have started to like apple cider vinegar with water too now.

  8. Do bars like Larabars count as “minimally processed” foods? You have me curious now!

    • Haha I’m not sure what they’re “technically” considered, but since most of them are just dates and nuts, I’d say that’s pretty close!

  9. I love “flat belly” foods :P. Maybe I’ll try the apple cider vinegar water!

  10. I always notice less bloat when I drink enough water. I think certain kinds of yoga help, too. For example, kundalini–the focused breathing and de-toxifying moves can make a big difference.

  11. I’ve cut out sodas for lent…and so far so good (though it’s been 3 days! haha)

  12. I’d try something called Good Belly, almost just for the name πŸ™‚
I didn’t know ACV had that effect too though although I knew it had thousands of other benefits, might have to get back on it again!

  13. Thanks for updating us on this!!! I like to get yogurt I feel like that helps. I also found that avoiding oats keeps my tummy flatter. Idk why, but hey if it works right?

    • Huh! I wonder why! I do think everyone’s stomach is a little different, so it’s awesome you found what works for you!

  14. I’ve heard great things about Good Belly and keep eying it at Whole Foods – now that I know it’s tasty and got good reviews, I’m more inclined to try it!

  15. Super interesting, Liz! I am in the mood for some flat belly foods right now…after a weekend visiting college friends and eating not so healthy!

  16. Since Marty and I went to Pittsburgh over the weekend, I figured I needed to ‘detox’ a bit this week (aka as clean as possible with lots of water! πŸ™‚ ) Included in my foods: oats, veggie salads, eggs and, of course, sweet potatoes. Pretty simple but these are some of my favorite foods so it hasn’t been bad getting back to my normal eating routine. πŸ™‚

  17. The second time I did the challenge I don’t know that it worked as well, however when I only have a shot every now and then, I definitely notice it helping. This will be better for my budget, so I’m not complaining. πŸ™‚ I think the ACV definitely helps with digestion, and clear skin!
