Monday night I started feeling that scratchy feeling in my throat, so I had a feeling that a cold was coming. Sure enough, I woke up Tuesday with a sore throat, a headache, and a generally achy feeling. Not so fun. After going to the grocery store at 7:00am for cold medicine and Good Belly, I came back home and napped for a little bit. By the time I woke up, I was feeling a little better.
I drank a shot of Good Belly probiotics (because I’m convinced it helps my immune system) and then I fell back asleep for a bit.

I woke up a little later, and I didn’t end up eating breakfast until around 11:00am, but I stuck with my normal smoothie. I wasn’t really sure what to eat for a cold, but despite not having much of an appetite, I knew I’d feel better after eating this.
Lunch

Since breakfast was so late, lunch was equally late. Luckily, I’d just picked up some soup at Trader Joe’s on Monday, so that made for an easy lunch. I had a little bit of minestrone soup, with a side of roasted butternut squash. This soup was pretty good, for a canned soup, and it was fairly high in protein and fiber, but still low in calories. I’ll be buying this again for sure. And the butternut squash was from my bounty box and was without a doubt one of the best butternut squashes I’ve ever had!
Dinner
Since I still wasn’t feeling up to much, Alex brought over some Chipotle (the man knows the way to my heart) and I ate about half of this veggie bowl.

Brown rice, black beans, tomato salsa, corn salsa, guacamole and lettuce. So delicious. I couldn’t quite finish it, but I made a pretty decent effort.

Despite feeling under the weather, I still ate pretty normally yesterday, and drank tons of water. I’ll do a full review of the Good Belly products soon, but I have to say, I do think they help!
I didn’t mind taking a rest day from working out, since I jumped back into running over the weekend, and then took another barre class at Local Barre on Monday night.

I forgot how intense those classes are! You can read about my first barre class here. I can’t wait to go back once I’m feeling better!

I love how I mentioned Chipotle and then Alex brings it over. We’re such a good telepathic team. haha
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling under the weather. Get lots of rest girl & drink all the fluid your belly can handle

I can never finsh those burrito bowls from Chipotle. That makes Vishnu very happy because it then becomes his lunch the next day!

Haha chipotle leftovers are so delicious!! He’s a lucky man
I’m sorry to hear you’re sick and hope you’ll get better very soon! It looks like you still had some tasty foods, though.
What I eat when sick depends on whether I’m still able to taste food or not. Generally, soup-like foods and oat bran/pudding are comforting to me.

Thank you so much!! Mmm pudding sounds fantastic
You got some great veggies in there! My favorite thing to eat when I’m sick is definitely soup. Lots of cooked peas and carrots.
I was always partial to the whole “toast” idea when being sick too. Most of my meals when sick were Campbell’s chicken noodle soup, plain toast (after we felt a little better we were able to *try* some butter), and then of course the classic saltines and seven-up.

Hope you’re feeling better! When I’m sick, I crave either sweet potatoes or roasted kabocha squash. Comfort foods at their finest!

Sorry you’re sick! Whenever I’m feeling ill I set up on the couch with a glass of water, bottle of kombucha, hot ginger tea made with real grated ginger, and a bowl of tomato soup. If I feel daring enough to venture into eating solids, I always start by trying to eat a banana very slowly. If that holds, move on to bread.

Oh no, sounds like we had the exact same thing! Hope you’re feeling better, Liz! When I had this last illness, I just wasn’t hungry at all, so I’d eat oatmeal in the morning and then nibble on fruit til dinnertime. Not very healthy but I just had no appetite!

Aww sorry to hear you’re not well! It sucks being ill

When I’m ill I tend to drink lots of water and just fancy bland food, like chicken soup or sweet potato on its own.
Get better soon!

When I’m sick, the only things I can usually manage are dry carbs like crackers, pretzels, toast, and cereal. Hope you feel better soon!!

Ugh! I must have gotten what you got…all of a sudden Tuesday I felt like my head was imploding. Since my nose was stuffy I couldn’t really taste anything, and there wasn’t anything in particular that seemed super appealing. In general, I crave carbs and tea.
