Thrifting Finds & RVA Brunch Club

I’m feeling pretty lucky. If you know me at all, you know I’ve fallen in love with the city of Richmond, and I continue to be blessed by meeting wonderful, interesting people. This weekend was filled with some blog-worthy adventures.

Saturday afternoon, I spent the day in the South side with Sydney, from Chic Stripes who is an expert at thrifting and consignment shopping. She took me to three different thrift stores, and by the end of the day I ended up with 3 cardigans, 3 sweaters, a jacket, a skirt, and a basket… for less than $50 total. I know, amazing, right? This girl has an eye for fashion, especially second hand. If you haven’t checked out her blog before, go take a look. I swear, you’ll be inspired.

I wanted to show you what I got, but I learned that I’m not great at taking self portraits. The self timer on the camera is way more confusing than you think. Trust me. But at least you can see the sweet lace sweatshirt that I picked up for a few bucks, which I ended up wearing to brunch on Sunday.

I had the pleasure of brunching with the girls from RVA Brunch Club. I felt honored to join their Sunday brunch tradition, and we went to a new-to-me restaurant, EAT in Oregon Hill.

Sometimes vegetarian options at brunch are a little limited, so I was excited to see that they had a vegan breakfast option that sounded delicious- black bean & quinoa cakes with cauliflower, zucchini, and sweet potato hash.

EAT Brunch

(That’s my amazing breakfast in the bottom right corner. Oh my goodness it was delicious.)

I’m sure the girls from RVA Brunch Club will have the full review up soon, but for now, let me tell you that if you live in Richmond, you should definitely check this place out for brunch. It wasn’t super crowded, but the staff was friendly, the mimosas were tasty, and the food was excellent. I’ll definitely be back to this place.

All of this exploring over the weekend really did make me fall in love with the city all over again.

Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

  1. That is an epic thrifting day! Reminds me I need to do the same – it’s been ages since I’ve gone out hunting for cool finds. It is way more difficult than most people presume to take a self-portrait. I’m actually looking to buy a small remote for my camera so I can take tons of shots (since I only like about 1 in 100) without constantly going back to the camera!

  2. I love going to thrift stores! There are so many things that are brand new and still have the tags on.

Veggie food in restaurants is exciting when it’s good. I get kinda sick of seeing the only option as some sort of mushroom burger! It’s sad because there is a whole world of vegetarian food out there if people would be only a little creative!

  3. That brunch sounds amazing. I love it when restaurants take a non-traditional route with dishes. Makes my taste buds happy!

  4. I absolutely adore EAT!!! I went for dinner a few months back and after that was hooked. Have been for brunch as well and loved everything. That voodoo shrimp might be one of my favorite dishes in all of Richmond, it’s so amazing! And I love the vibe in there, so fun! Nothing like finishing off a fabulous weekend with a stellar brunch :) Looking forward to reading the ladies’ review of EAT soon too – happy Monday!

  5. Ok I,m totally jealous that you have a resto offering those great veg options for brunch!!! YUM!!

Your shopping trip sounds like a lot of fun too ;) Very pretty top!

  6. Your weekend looks like a blast! Love a good shopping trip. And that shirt in the first pic is adorable!

  7. Score on all those clothes, Liz! Amazing thrifting job. That’s a gorgeous little sweatshirt. :)

  8. Score on the cute top! I haven’t been to EAT yet, but now I definitely want to. And that brunch club is awesome!

  9. What fun! I went to a fancy-schmancy wine tasting on Saturday . . . my husband and I had a great time. The weekend went by too quickly though!

  10. Sweatshirt is adorable!!

We went out to brunch yesterday and I felt like EVERYTHING had meat. It was so frustrating, I just got an egg white omelet with goat cheese. Pretty boring!

  11. OMG your breakfast looks TO DIE FOR and I love how unique it sounds. and your thrift shop find is soooo cute. love the price. just call you macklemore!

  12. aww you’re too cute! Love that shirt! The bruch looks good, I love the picture of the waffles haha I was kinda snowed in this weekend, so nothing too exciting lol but I did manage to do some baking :)

  13. I love thrift store shopping (and brunch)! My sister has such patience when it comes to thrifting; I’m always more successful when she’s around :)

  14. Proof positive, yet again, that the vegan option is often the one everyone at the table gets jealous of. :)

  15. WOW! Lots of food!
    LOVE the smiles, btw!

  16. I love your top! It looks like you had an amazing weekend!

  17. Um that sweater is adorable! I love it! And your food pictures are making me hungry. :-)

  18. I always loved going to vegetarian and vegan restaurants. I did the vegan thing for a month last summer but ate pretty veggie for months when I was travelling. I found that the vegan restaurants had the healthiest eat out options so I was a frequent guest. It always amazes me how they can transform plants into such crazy combos! Glad you had so much fun and that sweater is adorable!! Isn’t it funny how when you get something knew it’s the only thing you can think to wear the next day, obviously nothing in the closet compares : )

  19. yum! looked like a great brunch place

  20. What an adorable top! Love the selfie pose!

My weekend was awesome!!! Relaxing, productive, girl time, date night, more relaxing. Loved it.

  21. I love getting good deals thrifting. That sweater is adorable.

EAT (formerly Pescados) is probably my favorite restaurant in Richmond. I LOVE it.

  22. That sweatshirt is seriously beyond adorable. I am so sad that I cannot just go to a store and buy it!! :(

Your brunch meal looks amazing. I truly appreciate when restaurants offer vegan dishes. Restaurants like that truly rock :).

  23. Such an adorable top. I absolutely love it!!!

  24. The transition is nearly complete, you’re becoming a fashion blogger!
    :)

  25. Glad you had fun! I’ll let you know when the next one is. Ps. Still in awe of how many great things you found!

  26. That sweater is absolutely adorable! where did you find that?! Also, a brunch club sounds like an amazing club. I want to join! haha

  27. I really miss Thrift stores! There’s hardly any in Paris. I think when I go back to the U.S. one of the first things I’ll do is go thrift store hunting.

  28. You’re right, Liz, that breakfast looks incredible! I love thrifting. I’ll be visiting my friends in Florida next week and that’s one of our biggest adventures while I’m there. Several days a week we go out “trolling” for bargains! My problem is how do I get it all home with me. Luckily, my friends drive home in April so they can bring it back for me. Your sweatshirt is adorable!

  29. I every time spent my half an hour to read this webpage’s articles or reviews everyday along
    with a mug of coffee.

  30. And you’ve got to get the engfine car service 07024 started.
Traxxas has blown the competition out of the company’s own
design, at a McDonald’s drive-thru in what’s considered a safe part of the country.
Authorities are working on this, it’s imperative that you make a decision on the Keystone
    XL pipeline in 60 days.

We celebrated with friends Saturday night and then Sunday, I planned a day around the city. It began with Brunch at EAT in Oregon Hill (which you may remember from my post with the RVA Brunch Club).
