Embracing My Inner Hippie

I’m not really the “camping type.” I like showering. I like sleeping in my bed. I like using my vitamix every morning. And don’t even get me started on my texting/tweeting/blogging addictions. Woah.

However, I threw caution to the wind, and spent the last 5 days at Bonnaroo! (Sorry for being MIA for so long! And thanks Kat, for doing a guest post, on Friday!)

The music was amazing! So many great artists all in once place. The heat was pretty intense, and I definitely wasn’t prepared for the crowd (about 100,000 people…) but it was so much fun!

The main stages were called the “Which” stage and the “What” stage. (There was also “This Tent”, “That Tent”, and “That Other Tent”.) Only slightly confusing πŸ™‚

Needless to say, after 5 days without showering, I was ready to come home and scrub the dirt off of me! I’m also craving some veggies. Even though I packed some snacks, I also “supplemented” those snacks with some not-so-healthy options. Oops πŸ˜‰

The first place we stopped didn’t have a lot of vegetarian options. I had a bowl of pinto beans πŸ™‚

And food at the festival looked like this:

Ashamed yet? πŸ˜‰

But I earned my girl scout badge for camping, and I definitely made some memories I’ll never forget, and that’s what really matters!

Are you the camping type? Or are you more of an indoors person?

  1. I always want to go camping, but maybe just for a night. I think that would be enough for me. And the weather would need to be cool. I don’t think I would want to camp in the heat.

  2. that looks like so muuch fun!!!! i wud lov to do something like that!

  3. Glad you had a good time! And those fries look sooo good, definitely worth munching on without guilt! I’m not a huge camper, but mostly because I hate waking up in a bed that isn’t mine. I’ll stick with hiking when I need some great outdoors.

  4. Glad you had a great time! It looks like so much fun!!!

  5. So glad you had a good time πŸ™‚ I am totally the camping type. I just shower in the river water (we always camp at the river), getting dirty doesnt bother me, and I LOVE campfires and the sound of nature πŸ™‚

  6. I’m more of an indoor girl, except when it comes to campfires. That makes it all worthwhile. I bet you had a good time. The hubby has been to ‘roo before, but I’ve never made a festival. Maybe one day…

  7. It’s all about the unhealthy festival food…. its what makes it! But I agree about craving veggies afterwards, I couldn’t stomach another fried thing for weeks haha πŸ™‚

  8. I’ve always wanted to do that! sounds like so much fun!! i’m the kind of girl who would LOVE to throw caution to the wind and not shower for five days. unfortunately, my roommates wouldn’t be too happy…

  9. I would never survive camping. I would seriously die. DIE. I need technology and showers and indoor bathrooms and a variety of clothes and a life without bugs.
Did you really go 5 days without showering????

    • Yes. 5 days. I smelled like a barn animal. It was pretty disgusting. I’m actually really proud of myself that I didn’t scream when I saw a spider in our tent (practically on my sleeping bag) AND I went without my phone for about 4 days. Crazy, no?

  10. 5 days at Bonnaroo! Awesome πŸ™‚ I’ll bet it was an unforgettable experience. And those fries look awesome. Welcome back!

  11. I think the best showers I’ve ever taken were after festival weekends. It truly makes you appreciate the little things like home cooked meals, showers and being clean, haha πŸ™‚

  12. Looks like you had a great time- and those fries looked to DIE for delicious. My fiance and I ALMOST went to Banaroo, but decided we probably didn’t have the extra money. Maybe next year! Camping definitely is fun, but it’s always good to be back to a hot shower and soft bed! Glad you had fun!

I’m not the camping type either. Well, I like camps (4-H, running camps, and Girl Scouts etc), but I got to take a shower everyday there. Looks like you had fun, but I would b glad to get home and shower, eat good food, and relax. πŸ™‚

  14. Growing up we camped ALL the time…Now we never camp…We have a cottage with all amenities in the house…

Over the years I’ve gotten REALLY girly about bugs, seaweed, outdoor toilets…that kind of thing…SO I’m going to say NO…I am no longer a camper!

  15. I’m not a fan of camping- I like showers πŸ™‚ I used to go with my family pretty frequently when I was younger, and it sort of made me hate it. I love nature, but I do not like sleeping in a tent!

  16. That huge thing of fries looks delish. And I’m definitely more of an indoors person. When I was young, I loved being outside, I was a huge tomboy. Maybe I overdid it?
