Remember when I said the Roller Derby was the strangest “exercise” I’d ever done? Well I’ve topped it.
I took a pole fit class, aka pole dancing.
Studio X had a groupon here in Richmond, so naturally, I had to try it. (I love good deals, and I love trying new things, so groupon is kind of amazing.)
There were 5 other ladies in the class. I say ladies because everyone else was at least 10 years older than me. I hope I’m that cool when I’m older.
Was it hard? Um, YES! Those ladies have some crazy upper body strength! Was it fun? Oh my gosh yes. Ok, so maybe I felt a little silly, “booty poppin” on a stripper pole… but it was a great workout! And I wasn’t looking at the clock waiting for it to be over.
Anyways, these new forms of exercise have given me a new perspective on working out. It’s fun to have a real GOAL, other than just “45 minutes on the treadmill”… I want to be in shape so I can be good at roller derby, or pole dancing, or cheerleading, or whatever sport I may try to tackle. I want to be strong! I want more endurance! Rawr!
What keeps you motivated to work out?
